The Wreck
At Freedom Machine E-Bikes Byron Bay, we love an easy ride to epic surf - and The Wreck is a must. Named after the SS Wollongbar shipwreck, its rudder still marks the legendary break.
With fast, hollow waves and a clean right off the rudder, it's a favourite when conditions are fire. Just watch out for the ship's old boilers beneath the surface.
Skip the parking hassle and roll up effortlessly on an e-bike - more time in the water, less time on the road.
Clarkes Beach
The far-right corner of Main Beach, known as Clarkes, is a great go-to when the wind chops up from Main Beachc. With a few fun peaks to choose from, it's a solid spot for a cruisy session.
Hop on an e-bike, skip the parking stress, and roll straight to the waves.
Belongil
Just north of Byron town-just a quick e-bike ride away-Belongil offers a fun right-hander in front of Treehouse Cafe and Wake Up Hostel. It's a great spot for beginner surfers looking to avoid the crowds at The Wreck, though with a small takeoff zone, it can fill up fast.
Ditch the car, cruise over on an e-bike, and roll straight into the lineup. No stress, just waves.
The Pass
The Pass is Byron Bay's most famous surf spot-a dream for longboarders with rides that go for hundreds of meters. But with perfection comes the crowds, both in the water and the car park.
Beginners can practice on the inside point, while advanced surfers take off behind the lookout rock-though snagging a wave from the locals won't be easy. Skip the parking chaos and roll up on an e-bike for a hassle-free ride straight to the waves.
Wategos Beach
Another longboarding favourite, Wategos Beach is a beautiful spot with super fun waves. The right-hand point is perfect for those after a long ride, while the left side near the cliff can serve up punchier waves when the swell is on.
Hop on an e-bike and cruise over-no parking hassle, just easy access to the waves.
Little Wategos
After parking your e-bike at Wategos, you can take a short walk along the lighthouse trail from Wategos, where you'll find Little Wategos-a quiet crowd-free spot with a perfect longboard-friendly right-hander. Ideal for a more relaxed surf session.
Main Beach
When The Pass is packed and the swell is pumping, Main Beach is a solid backup with plenty of peaks and fewer crowds. With a mix of lefts and rights, there's always a wave to catch-best surfed on a mid to high tide. Too much water, and it goes fat and dumpy;. too little, and it's fast and shallow.
Skip the parking stress and roll up on an e-bike. More waves, less hassle.
Tallows
Around the other side of Cape Byron, Tallows Beach is a 5-minute e-bike from town. It offers plenty of peaks, but 'Cosy Corner' in the top left, under the lighthouse ,often serves up the best wedges.
Expect some local dolphins to join the fun in the waves! With limited parking (it's in a National Park) and no lifeguard patrol, riding over on an e-bike is the hassle free way to get there. Just be mindful, of rip currents!
Broken Head
At the far end of Tallows, Broken Head is a spot for advanced surfers with both a beach break and a point break. When the point's working, you'll score some long rides, and the inside section often delivers fun little barrels. If you're heading to the point, just wander around the rocks and use the rip to get out with minimal effort.
The beach break offers a range of peaks for all levels, as long as the swell isn't too big. For those look to camp or park a van by the coast, Broken Head has a campsite right on the beach, so you're always close to the waves.
Hop on an e-bike to easily access this hidden gem without worrying about parking!
